The films are listed by date of production from the oldest to the most recent and while the subject matter means that a lot of them are in the horror genre there are several comedies and even a documentary. The split between historical and contemporary seems to be fairly even. This is not supposed to be a comprehensive list and due to the relative obscurity of the subject matter it consists only of what I have come in contact with. If any of our readers have any suggestions for inclusion I would be happy to consider them.
Subject Matter
What I was looking for were items where the subject matter included representations of paganism, the occult, or magic. It probably goes without saying that the majority are fictional and show these subjects in a negative light while demonstrating a lack of understanding of the subjects. It therefore gives me great pleasure when I come across any items which break out of this mould.
Ratings
The Grate Scot rating system is biased and opinionated and down to my own personal taste. Basically it takes into account educational content, pagan relevance and entertainment value then filters these through personal prejudice and, where required, rolls a dice to arrive at one of the following:-
5/5 - don't miss it.
4/5 - well worth tracking down.
3/5 - if it chances by, try it.
2/5 - poor.
1/5 - there are better uses for your time.
